Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English Literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell started her job as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general correspondent by NBC News a year later. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for the congressional section. She was appointed chief congressional correspondent in the year 1992. became the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 she became the chief foreign affairs correspondent in NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host as well as a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her role in the defense and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra saga. She traveled extensively with President Reagan to summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
